Your chosen one

Who do you admire? Who’s kindness, support, and endless encouragement has made all the difference to you? It could be Mum or Dad, Grandma or Grandad a family member, or that special friend.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have them share their stories and to hold them in time, so you can appreciate them for years to come; so that even future generations can see and hear them?

That’s what we do – this is the opportunity we offer:

A MyLife MyStory video records those precious stories for your posterity and safe keeping.

My dear uncle was honoured to share his experiences. It’s so good to see him on film, talking about his childhood, laughing. Pure magic. Thank you.

How it works

Step 1. Firstly, a member of our friendly team will meet up with you and your special someone. We can have a chat and you can tell us:

  • Why they’re so special to you
  • They can tell us a little about their life, their family, and the stories they’d like to share
  • We’ll listen and put together a few questions to help them tell their stories.

Step 2. We arrange a date and time for filming.

Step 3. On the day, the filming will take place in a quiet, indoor location of your choosing (usually a family home), and no, it won’t be like the movies. Yes, there’ll be a camera rolling and perhaps a light or two. Imagine two people chatting, with the answers to the questions being recorded. Yes, you can also be in the film yourself if you’d like.

Step 4. After the filming, we’ll edit your video, add titles and a few photographs* and supply your video online via your own personal link and on a memory stick.

People have been sharing their stories with us for over twenty years and we are confident that the person you have chosen will feel relaxed and in good hands.

Feeling a bit nervous?

It’s only natural for those taking part to feel a little anxious. It’s a new experience, and for many, it’s the first opportunity to tell and record themselves and their stories. A person’s nervousness may stem from their strong desire to accurately capture their stories knowing the importance of delivering them personally.

A person may wish others to cherish this moment and ensure that these family stories and personal video of them are recorded correctly and passed down to future generations. They may feel a sense of responsibility to capture the truth and ensure that their stories are told accurately and from the heart.

Often an initial thought is that people think this is a silly idea and question why anyone would want to hear their stories. However, like most people, once asked, they often quickly relax, and the stories begin to flow and people recognise the importance of the experience.

A source of inspiration

Hearing stories about ancestors who overcame adversity, achieved great success, or made significant contributions to their community can inspire younger generations to pursue their own dreams.

Family stories can provide valuable insights into the past, including the customs, values, and beliefs of previous generations.

This can help younger generations understand their cultural and historical roots and develop a greater appreciation for their heritage.

MyLife MyStory video addresses this issue.
